The Wisconsin Football DAWG of the Week series is an opportunity to spotlight players that had a massive impact on the game. Earning this prestigious honor is more than just statistical output.  Its about which Badgers player let that inner DAWG out.

Certainly stats will factor into this weekly award — but this particular accolade is more than who filled up the stat sheet. More simply — what player would not be denied. When a players best was required — who rose to the occasion?

Wisconsin Football Quarterback Braedyn Locke

Braedyn Duncan Locke.

We better get used to hearing that name because Locke has all the skills and ability to be a multi-year starter for the Wisconsin Badgers.  You can just see the Rockwall, TX native has the moxie, poise, and swagger of an upperclassmen. He has the maturity of a multi-year starter and not that of a guy making his second career start.

Brayden Locke, referred to by teammates as “Lulu” for his Lululemon wardrobe, made play after play for the Wisconsin Badgers football team on Saturday night.  On a 3rd-and-6 and the Badgers trailing 10-3, ‘Lulu” used his legs to scramble for a first down and he can SCOOOOT!

The redshirt freshman’s stat line left more to be desired but that isn’t the barometer to judging successful quarterback play. Of course he was not perfect and needs to grow and develop but we cant get lost on the fact that he was sans RB1A, RB1B, and WR1 for more than half of the game.

Wisconsin was facing the undefeated and No.3 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes under the lights of Camp Randall Stadium. The quarterback made plenty of plays to be excited for his future and most importantly – he took care of the football.

I recently anointed myself the leader of the Braedyn Locke for 2024 Heisman and I continue to stand ten toes down on that.

Reactions to Braedyn Locke vs. Ohio State

Lulu Locke and the Wisconsin Badgers are set to travel to Indiana and take on the Hoosiers 11/4 at Memorial Stadium.

One objective this week – just win, baby!
