Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball program will have a big recruiting target in the 2025 class on campus for an official visit soon.

Four-star forward EJ Walker, a top-150 player in the 2025 cycle, will make his way to Madison on April 26th.

“I’m excited about the visit,” Walker told Badgernotes. “This will be my third time visiting. I’m just looking forward to hanging out with the staff, seeing the city, and listening to coaches plans for me.”

Wisconsin extended an offer to Walker in May of 2023. UW got him on campus quickly, as he took an unofficial visit in June and also stopped by for Wisconsin’s matchup against Tennessee in November.

Walker most recently visited South Carolina, meeting with former Badgers assistant coach Lamont Paris in Columbia.

Walker has garnered 27 offers throughout his recruitment but trimmed his list to 12 at the beginning of March, and Wisconsin made the cut alongside Illinois, Ohio State, Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, Dayton, West Virginia, Louisville, Cal, Xavier, and South Carolina.

“The relationship I have with the staff and the vision on how they will use me in their system,” Walker said when asked what has kept him interested in Wisconsin.

Assistant coach Sharif Chambliss has acted as Walker’s primary recruiter throughout this process.

According to the composite rankings, Walker is rated as the No. 142 player in the nation, the No. 28 PF, and the No. 2 player in Kentucky.

Wisconsin will look to bring in a bigger class in the 2025 recruiting cycle due to a larger group of outgoing graduates following the 2024-25 season. UW currently holds a commitment from in-state standout Zach Kinziger, and Walker is among the top targets for Wisconsin in the cycle alongside Davion Hannah, Kai Rogers, and Will Garlock, among others.

Walker is looking to make his commitment before his final year in the high school ranks.

“No specific date for my decision, but I would like to be committed before my senior (season) starts,” Walker told Badgernotes.

This will be a recruitment worth monitoring as Walker completes his visit with the Wisconsin basketball program and other schools in his top 12.
