Tanor Bortolini is the first Wisconsin football player off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Indianapolis Colts took the former Wisconsin Badgers offensive lineman with the 117th pick in the draft.

Bortolini saw his draft stock take off in the NFL’s pre-draft activities. He raised eyebrows at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in February with his performance in Mobile.

He followed that up by earning an invitation to the NFL Combine. In front of NFL GMs and scouts, the former Wisconsin football player put up some very impressive testing numbers.

While at the combine, Tanor Bortolini showed off his athleticism by running a 4.94-second 40-yard dash (second among all offensive linemen). He also had a 1.69-second 10-yard split (second), a 32.5-inch vertical (10th), and a 7.16-second 3-cone drill (first). NFL.com gave him an estimated athleticism score of 99, first among all centers in the 2024 NFL Combine.

With his performance at the combine, the Wisconsin football product earned a relative athletic score (RAS) of 9.77 out of 10. That score is the 38th-best score of all offensive guards since 1987.

Tanor Bortolini is now the latest Wisconsin football offensive lineman to enter the professional ranks. O-Line U is alive and well, continuing to put offensive linemen into the National Football League.

This is the second consecutive season a center from the Wisconsin football team has been drafted. Last year, the New York Jets took Joe Tippman in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
