Wisconsin Basketball Transfer Wing Invited to G League Elite Camp

Wisconsin basketball sophomore wing A.J. Storr has been invited to the 2024 G League Elite Camp, per a report from Jonathan Givony.

This news comes as expected, considering Storr chose to enter his name into the NBA Draft at the season’s end while also finding a new landing spot in the transfer portal should he return to college. Storr intends to see the draft process through after a breakout season with the Badgers. 

Storr led Wisconsin basketball in scoring this past season, averaging 16.8 points a night while collecting 3.9 rebounds per contest on 43% shooting. He started all 36 games and earned second-team All-Big Ten honors.

Throughout the season, Storr was the Wisconsin basketball program’s go-to scorer. The Rockford native had 11 separate games with at least 20 points scored and even reached double figures in scoring 34 times in 36 games, including each of his final 31 appearances for the Badgers. 

Under Wisconsin basketball head coach Greg Gard, Storr experienced some tough love coaching from the Badgers staff that ultimately led to him taking a significant step forward in his development. 

“It appears he’s extremely appreciative for the growth he’s had this year, because we’ve coached him pretty hard, and he’s been very receptive to it,” Gard told reporters. “I’ve said all along he might be our most improved player.”

The 6-foot-7 wing isn’t currently projected as a first or second-round NBA Draft selection, according to NBADraft.net. As it stands, Storr is their No. 65 player on their top 100 prospects board. 

Wisconsin basketball has seen just six Badgers selected in the NBA Draft since the start of the Bo Ryan and Greg Gard era. Those players are Devin Harris, Alando Tucker, Jon Leuer, Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker, and most recently, Johnny Daivs. 

The G League Elite camp list is comprised of 44 players who will scrimmage for two days in Chicago, starting on May 11. The standouts from that group will get an opportunity to showcase themselves in front of scouts at the NBA Draft Combine from May 12 to May 19.

Should the Wisconsin basketball transfer return to college, he’ll do so as a member of the Kansas Jayhawks in 2024-25. Storr has some work to do between now and the NBA Draft on June 27, but the upside is certainly there.
