Wisconsin men’s basketball forward Tyler Wahl recently worked out with the Milwaukee Bucks, as reported by the Journal Sentinel’s Jeff Potrykus.

Wahl is now eyeing a professional career after using up his fifth and final year of eligibility with Wisconsin basketball in the 2023-24 season.

The Swiss-army-knife earned honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition this past season after averaging 11.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game on 53.5% shooting from the field. According to Synergy, Wahl averaged 1.08 points per shot, putting him in the 72nd percentile.

Over Wahl’s five years with the Wisconsin Badgers, the Lakeville North standout made 162 career appearances, scored 1350 points, hauled in 800 rebounds, assisted 271 times, and nabbed 166 steals.

“I feel like I came in as a point guard and had to kind of figure out my role here,” Wahl told reporters“I fought my way on this work, figuring out how to be a little smaller and get some minutes still. And I think it’s just the resiliency I’ve developed as a man, developing my character, developing my core beliefs, and I’m grateful for everything that I’ve gone through here.”

Greg Gard‘s lone scholarship player in the 2019 recruiting class, Wahl, played a crucial role in securing the Wisconsin basketball program’s Big Ten regular season titles in 2019-20 and 2021-22.

Despite a productive college career, Wahl isn’t expected to be picked in the upcoming 2024 NBA draft. An international playing career seems probable, but workouts with teams like the Bucks could help shape his professional path and open up doors to a potential summer league bid. He also took part in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament to get additional exposure in front of pro scouts last month.

At 6 feet 9 inches tall, Wahl brings a unique mix of skills as a point forward. His versatility creates mismatches against other bigs. His impressive footwork and old-school low-post game could catch the eye of the right professional team looking for a a two-way chess piece.

There are countless other Wisconsin basketball alumni who have gone on to have successful careers overseas, and Wahl could be the next in line.
