On Tuesday afternoon, the Big Ten announced the conference schedule for the Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team and the other 17 teams in the newly expanded Big Ten as well. Each team will play 18 games, nine at home and nine on the road, while only playing one conference mate twice.

The Badgers will have two Border Battle matchups next season as their one home/away opponent is their archrival, the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Here is the location for the rest of their games:

HOME

Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers, Southern Cal, UCLA

AWAY

Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Washington

Friend of the program, Hoopla Wyatt, took the liberty of collecting all of the home/away matchups and putting them in one tweet. It’s nice to see that they tried to make these “rivalry” matchups, but this will really hinder the ability of teams to develop new rivalries or continue their secondary/tertiary rivalries.

The date, time, and TV/streaming options will all be announced at a later time, but Wisconsin women’s basketball fans can plan on playing in Eugene, Ore. and Seattle for the first time as conference mates of Oregon and Washington.

Not to end this post on a sour note, but seeing the schedule laid out like this just further proves that an 18-team Big Ten is an abomination and the best things about college sports are all being killed in order for a bunch of suits to make more money. Wooooo, love sports.
