On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Badgers basketball program, led by sophomore wing A.J. Storr, had four players earn All-Conference honors.

Storr, who averaged a team-high 16.2 points per game this season, along with 3.7 rebounds and an assist, was rightfully acknowledged by both the media and the coaches as a second-team All-Big Ten pick, as announced by the conference.

The St. John’s transfer started in all 31 games for head coach Greg Gard this season and recorded double-digit scoring totals in 26 consecutive games. He became the first Wisconsin Badgers player to earn an All-Big Ten Second Team spot since Brad Davison in 2022.

Alongside Storr, Wisconsin basketball junior point guard Chucky Hepburn secured a spot on the conference’s all-defensive team, becoming the first Badgers player since 2017 to pick up that honor. Hepburn was also named an honorable mention all-conference selection for the second time in his career after averaging 8.5 points, 3.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals.

Senior forward Tyler Wahl also received honorable mention all-conference honors after averaging 11.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. This was his second time garnering honorable mention recognition (2022).

Wisconsin Basketball Guard John Blackwell Earns All-Big Ten Freshman Honors

Last but certainly not least is Wisconsin basketball combo guard John Blackwell, who earned a spot on the Big Ten all-freshman team.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Michigan averaged 8.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting a team-high 48.1 percent from beyond the arc. This season, he was a four-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week honoree.

Blackwell became the ninth player in Wisconsin basketball program history to earn Big Ten All-Freshman accolades. This was also the third straight season a Badgers player was represented on the all-freshman list, joining Connor Essegian (2023) and Hepburn (2022).

The only others who earned that honor were Ethan Happ in 2016 and Brad Davison in 2018, which places Blackwell in an elite company.

Finally, Purdue’s Zach Edey was named the Big Ten Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, joining a select group of players to achieve this honor in conference history. Additionally, Purdue’s Matt Painter and Nebraska’s Fred Hoiberg shared the Big Ten Coach of the Year award, reflecting their unparalleled leadership throughout the 2023-24 season.
