Wisconsin basketball is striking out in the transfer portal this offseason.  With several swings and misses in the rearview mirror, Wisconsin Badgers head coach Greg Gard is looking ahead to his next options. Wisconsin will host a pair of players on official visits in the near future. Although Gard has not yet found his home run prospect this off-season, he knocked it out of the park a year ago.

No one had a more immediate impact on the Badgers this year than AJ Storr. In the 2022-23 season, Wisconsin recorded its worst adjusted offensive efficiency rating since 2001 and its worst ranking by the adjusted offense (140th in the country) since 1998, according to Kenpom. Storr added a much-needed scoring spark to Gard’s roster. He led UW in scoring with 16.8 points per game. The sophomore transformed Wisconsin’s offense into its best since it reached the 2015 national championship game.

Plenty of people noticed Storr’s impact on Wisconsin basketball, so much so that CBS named him an honorable mention for their CBS Sports All-Transfer Team. CBS Sports’ David Cobb and Matt Norlander selected a starting five and honorable mentions among transfers in their first season at a new school. Prior to his year in Madison, Storr was a Big East all-freshman team selection with St. John’s.

Could AJ Storr Make the All-Transfer Team again?

Storr is well-positioned to earn a spot on the CBS Sports All-Transfer Team for two consecutive seasons. He is joining Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks after one season in Madison. Much like Gard’s Badgers a year ago, Self’s Jayhawks are coming off one of their worst offensive seasons in memory. This past season, KU recorded its worst adjusted offensive efficiency ranking since 2000.

With Kansas in need of an elite scorer on the wing, who better to add than Storr? Pairing him with Wisconsin basketball antagonist and fellow All-Transfer Team selection Hunter Dickinson makes for a solid one-two punch.
