Wisconsin Football Receiver Inks New NFL Deal After Gambling Suspension
The former Badgers receiver will have a chance to prove himself.
Former Wisconsin football Wide receiver Quintez Cephus, one of the five players suspended by the NFL for gambling infractions last April, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Bills, as reported by Adam Schefter.
Cephus, a fifth-round pick from the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2020 NFL Draft, was released by the Lions last April along with safety C.J. Moore after receiving an indefinite suspension for betting on NFL games.
Cephus was among the five players reinstated by the NFL earlier this month. The former Wisconsin football standout confirmed the Bills deal on social media, expressing gratitude with a post that read, “Thank you, God,” and adding a Bills Mafia hashtag.
Thank you God #BillsMafia

Before his suspension, Cephus had accumulated 37 catches for 568 yards and four touchdowns across three seasons with the Lions. Now, still just 26 years old, the 6-foot-1, 207-pound wideout will look to revive his career and show the AFC East contenders he has something left to give.
Cephus, who played for the Wisconsin football program from 2016-19, joins a Bills unit tasked with filling the void left by the departure of No. 1 wideout Stefon Diggs, who was traded to the Texans earlier this month in exchange for a second-round pick in 2025, and No. 2 receiver Gabe Davis, who signed with the Jaguars in free agency.
