Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Contacts Big East Transfer Wing
Madison, Wis. — Greg Gard and the Wisconsin men’s basketball program have contacted a transfer wing from within the Big East conference.
On Thursday, Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers reported that Wisconsin was one of the teams that expressed interest in St. Johns wing AJ Storr, who recently entered the transfer portal.
Along with UW, Storr has heard from Oklahoma State, Memphis, Arizona State, Florida, BYU, Georgia, Cincinnati, Butler, Miami, DePaul, LSU, Indiana, Michigan, UConn, Georgetown, Auburn, Gonzaga, Creighton, Xavier, and several other schools.
The 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing was a member of the Big East All-Freshman team, averaging 8.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists this past season on an impressive shooting 40.4% from beyond the arc in just over 21 minutes per game for the Red Storm.
Storr started 17 of the 33 games he appeared in for St. John’s during his freshman season and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Why AJ Storr Makes Sense for Wisconsin Men’s Basketball
Wisconsin men’s basketball would greatly benefit from adding a legit 3&D wing with some size (ideally bigger than 6-foot-4), and AJ Storr fits their needs to a T.
The former four-star recruit turned in an impressive season, finishing with a 104.8 ORTG and a 1.4 PRPG, per Barttorvik, which would have been sixth on the Badgers this past season.
He’s a lanky wing with above-average athleticism that can finish well around the rim. Storr can also step out and knockdown three’s at an impressive clip, plus get you a bucket playing iso-ball when the shot clock is winding down.
Wings standing at 6-foot-6 that can score from all three levels don’t exactly grow on trees, so he’ll have plenty of suitors. However, there’s no denying that he’s exactly what Wisconsin men’s basketball could use to bolster the offense.
AJ Storr is an intriguing talent with plenty of upside in his game.
