Wisconsin Football: 3 Remaining Questions in the 2025 Recruiting Cycle
What’s next in the 2025 cycle for the Badgers?
The Wisconsin football program had a historic recruiting run last month, landing 11 commitments from June 1st to July 1st.
Four-star interior offensive lineman Hardy Watts was the cherry on top of Wisconsin’s 2025 offensive line class, and with his verbal pledge, the Badgers now hold 22 total commitments in the cycle.
UW is expected to make just one or two more additions before wrapping up its 2025 recruiting class. With that in mind, here’s a look at what could be next for the Badgers.
Will Muizz Tounkara Cap Off a Strong Wisconsin Football WR Class?
Wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton showed off some recruiting prowess by reeling in Eugene Hilton Jr, who held offers from Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, Missouri, and Cincinnati, among others, shortly after his official visit. He was also responsible for landing a commitment from Cameron Miller, who looks to be a perfect fit at slot receiver.
Muizz Tounkara, who took an official visit during the first weekend in June, could be the cherry on top of UW’s receiver class. The Texas native listed Wisconsin alongside Kansas and Arizona in his top three a few weeks back and has set a commitment date for July 13th.
It’s worth noting that the Badgers are currently the Crystal Ball favorite for the three-star receiver, and they’ll find out their fate in just over a week.
Will Wisconsin Go Without a Running Back Commit in the 2025 Cycle?
UW has yet to pick up a running back commit, but by all accounts, the Badgers have put all their eggs in the Byron Louis basket.
The Florida native is one of the most sought-after tailbacks in the 2025 cycle, holding over 30 offers, including some from notable programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, and several others. Wisconsin brought Louis in for an official visit on June 7th before he made stops with Georgia and Florida State, but the Seminoles look to be the leader in his recruitment at this time.
After taking Darrion Dupree, Dilin Jones, and Gideon Ituka in the 2024 cycle, running back isn’t a top position of need this time around. It wouldn’t be the worst outcome for the Badgers if Louis stays close to home, given the youth in the tailback room.
Will Wisconsin Football Flip Zadian Gentry?
After a de-commitment from Rukeem Stroud, Wisconsin holds cornerback commitments from Jahmare Washington and Jaimier Scott. UW could take three cornerbacks in the cycle, and they’ve been eyeing Zadian Gentry for that last spot.
Gentry committed to SMU in April, but Wisconsin hasn’t backed down, even landing an official visit from the Texas native. After the de-commitment from Stroud, UW could ramp up its pursuit of the three-star cornerback.
If Gentry holds firm in his commitment to the Mustangs, some other names may begin to pop up later in the cycle. Regardless, cornerback will be a position to watch going forward as the Badgers look to build on a strong group of commits.
