While they have not released every game yet, the Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball non-conference opponents are slowly coming into focus. This past week it was confirmed that Wisconsin will be participating in the Cancun Challenge this year. The 19th iteration of the event will run from Nov. 28-30 and will be played at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico.

The Badgers will play a three-game round robin with the Providence Friars, San Diego State Aztecs, and VCU Rams in the Mayan Division during their Thanksgiving stay in Cancun. The Riviera Division will feature BYU, Idaho State, Iowa, Rhode Island, Rice, and Vermont. There will also be a men’s tournament earlier in the week with a host of mid-major teams looking to rack up wins for their NCAA Tournament resumes.

Per the official website, the games will be streamed live on FloHoops and the full schedule of games will be released in the coming weeks.

Last season, the Badgers (both men and women) played in the Fort Myers Tip Off. UW lost a heartbreaker to Arkansas (65-62; UW led by seven at halftime) to open the tournament but bounced back to beat Boston College (82-72; Serah Williams had 18 points and eight rebounds, Ronnie Porter had eight points, eight assists, and five rebounds) by double digits.

Two years ago Wisconsin played in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands and faced off against VCU and, after jumping out to a big first quarter lead, fell by eight. Julie Pospisilova led the way with 27 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Wisconsin beat Providence by two points back in 1980 (EAT IT, FRIARS!) and have never played SDSU before.
