Last year, there was a lot of change under the new Wisconsin football coaching staff. One of those changes included heading southwest 71 miles to UW-Platteville for the start of fall training camp.

The reasoning behind the change was to help players lock in for the season and avoid some potential distractions at home; to keep them from being too comfortable and complacent. This is common practice in football, especially in the NFL.

They rented out the football facilities at UW-Platteville for an astounding $150,398 to avoid those distractions. Now, for the second straight year, the Wisconsin football team will spend the first two weeks of fall camp in Platteville at the UW-Platteville facilities, according to a press release from the Pioneers.

The Badgers will open up their fall camp on July 29 and will be in Platteville until August 12. Most practices will be closed to the public, but they will hold one practice open to fans if they want to attend on Saturday, August 10th.

Wisconsin football fans can buy tickets to attend the open practice for $5 per ticket. Fans ages 12 and under will get free admission.

You can buy tickets for the open practice here.

After their two weeks in Platteville, the Badgers will head back to Madison for the remainder of training camp to prepare for the start of the season when they host Western Michigan Friday, August 30th at 8:00 PM.
