Even though the Wisconsin Badgers football team was late to offer 3-star offensive lineman Isaac “Spike” Sowells a scholarship, they’re in the mix.

“My recruitment is still open,” Sowells told Badgernotes

Sowells offer came on the day that he dropped a list of top 10 schools that included North Carolina State, Miami, Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, South Carolina, West Virginia, Penn State, Vanderbilt, and Louisville.

But the Wisconsin Badgers had a foot in the door thanks to the program’s new offensive line coach, AJ Blazek, from his time at Vandy.

“Wisconsin, I know, is an offensive line powerhouse,” Sowells shared. “Just the energetic feeling that Coach Blazek has me intrigued about learning more about the school.”

The Louisville Male High School standout is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 293 pounds. Sowells is ranked as the No. 694 prospect in the 2025 class and holds the No. 54 spot among interior offensive linemen in the country, according to the composite rankings.

Isaac Sowells to Visit Wisconsin Football During Spring Practice

Even though Wisconsin football still is a program in consideration for Isaac Sowells, the Badgers undoubtedly have ground to make up.

“I’d say NC State, Miami, and South Carolina are towards the front of the pack,” Sowells said.

However, the Wisconsin Badgers staff will have an opportunity to strengthen their relationship with him when he visits Madison for spring practice. Sowells shared they are still working to set up a date.

Of note, Sowells was a 1st Team All-State selection as a junior at the same high school that current Wisconsin football wideout Vinny Anthony played at — where the two were teammates for one season.

The Wisconsin football program already has one offensive line commitment in the fold from three-star in-state product Michael Roeske in what could be a smaller group of linemen taken this cycle.
