Wisconsin Football Late to the Dance, Makes Unexpected Play for Recruit
Wisconsin football has officially thrown its hat into the ring for an offensive lineman from Kentucky.
On the same day that three-star offensive lineman Isaac “Spike” Sowells named his top 10 schools, the Wisconsin Badgers football team threw their hat into the ring with a scholarship offer.
The programs included in Sowells list were North Carolina State, Miami, Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, South Carolina, West Virginia, Penn State, Vanderbilt, and Louisville.
“My recruitment is still open,” Sowells told Badgernotes.
This late entry is, of course, not completely random. Wisconsin Badgers offensive line coach AJ Blazek was recruiting Sowells at Vanderbilt.

Wisconsin Football Joins the Race for OL Isaac Sowells.
The Wisconsin football program missed on 3-star offensive lineman Joshua Williams out of Haverford, Pennsylvania. But the Badgers pivoted and made an offer to the next target on their board.
Isaac Sowell is considered the No. 694 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 54 interior offensive lineman in the country.
Right now, the 6-foot-2, 293-pound lineman from Louisville, Kentucky, shared that he plans to visit the Wisconsin Badgers for spring football practice and continue building his relationship with the coaching staff.
Sowells was a 1st Team All-State selection as a junior at Louisville Male High School, where current Wisconsin football WR Vinny Anthony played. The two were teammates for one season.
It remains to be seen whether Wisconsin can force its way into consideration this late in the process, but Coach Blazek having a previous relationship makes it a distinct possibility.
As it stands, UW holds just one offensive line commit in the 2025 class from three-star in-state product Michael Roeske. The Badgers could take a smaller group after signing five linemen in the previous class.
