Wisconsin Football Receives Some Disappointing Recruiting News
Onto the next one, for Wisconsin football on the recruiting trail.
Wisconsin Badgers offensive line coach AJ Blazek didn’t waste much time before offering three-star offensive lineman Joshua Williams out of Haverford, Pennsylvania a scholarship to join the football program.

Five short days later, the Wisconsin Badgers were named a finalist for Williams, along with Michigan, Rutgers, Stanford, and Penn State.
According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Williams is considered the nation’s No. 439 player in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 26 IOL, and the No. 15 player in Pennsylvania.
However, the Wisconsin football coaches learned on Monday that they’d have to start looking elsewhere for another interior offensive lineman.
Wisconsin Football Misses on Offensive Lineman Joshua Williams
Three-star offensive lineman Joshua Williams, who held 19 offers, announced he was shutting down his recruitment and committed to the Stanford Cardinals instead of Wisconsin football while live on the 247Sports YouTube channel.
This decision doesn’t come as a massive surprise, considering insiders had multiple crystal balls for him to land with Stanford — but it is still disappointing because there appeared to be some momentum shortly after picking up an offer from the Wisconsin Badgers.
Although Williams didn’t pick Wisconsin, he was very complimentary of coach Blazek and how genuine and energetic his personality came across.
Wisconsin football has seven players committed in the 2025 recruiting class: QB Landyn Locke, DB Remington Moss, OL Michael Roeske, S Cody Haddad, S Jaimier Scott, LB Cooper Catalano, and LB Brenden Anes.
That gives Wisconsin the No. 9 recruiting class right now, but they’ll need to pivot to the next man on their board for the offensive line. A few players that the Badgers coaching staff is in a good spot with are Jack Lange, Matty Augustine, and Rowan Byrne, among others.
