Wisconsin Football Identifies New 2025 Running Back Target
The Badgers have found a new running back target to monitor.
The Wisconsin football program’s recruiting board at running back is beginning to take shape, with the team inching closer to spring visits.
On Tuesday, Wisconsin Badgers position coach Devon Spalding added a name to that board, extending a scholarship offer to three-star running back Shekai Mills-Knight out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
“AGTG after a great call with Coach Spalding, I’m extremely blessed to have received an offer from The University of Wisconsin,” he wrote.
According to the composite recruiting rankings, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior is currently unranked but holds 15 offers, most notably from Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and Utah.

Shekai Mills-Knight Plans to Visit to Wisconsin Football
The Wisconsin football coaching staff recently struck up this relationship with Mills-Knight. Still, the Badgers’ long line of success developing running backs has piqued his interest enough to potentially secure a visit, although nothing is penciled in yet.
“A good environment,” said Mills-Knight when asked what interests him about UW. “One I’d be comfortable in without football. There’s good coaching, good o-line, a good support system from the coaches, and proven development.”
During his junior season, Mills-Knight accounted for 1,200 all-purpose yards and was named an all-state selection even though an ankle injury kept him out during the first four weeks of the season.
There’s a lot to like about the film. Mills-Knight is light on his feet and is a one-cut-back with impressive speed in the open field for his size. It’s easy to envision his potential fit with the Wisconsin football offense.
Where the Wisconsin Badgers Recruiting Board Stands at Running Back
During the 2024 recruiting cycle, Wisconsin football completely rebuilt its running back room from the ground up.
The Badgers signed three running backs—Dilin Jones, Darrion Dupree, and Gideon Ituka—which should allow the staff to be picky, knowing they’re likely only going to take one in 2025.
UW did miss on one of its top running back targets, Isaiah West, who committed to Kentucky on March 1.
The Wisconsin football staff has shifted their focus to recruiting Bryon Louis, John Forster, Jace Clarizio, and Chase Garnett.
