Wisconsin football running back coach Devon Spalding extended a new scholarship offer on the recruiting trail to a 2025 target on Friday.

Four-star tailback John Forster out of Montvale, New Jersey, announced his offer from the Wisconsin Badgers on social media.

“My relationship with coach Spalding has been really good,” Forster shared with Badgernotes. “He’s had many great running backs, which shows how well he develops his players.”

Forster is considered the nation’s No. 26 running back and the No. 9 player in New Jersey, according to the composite recruiting rankings.

The 6-foot, 190-pound tailback also holds offers from Rutgers, Illinois, James Madison, Liberty, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Syracuse, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee, among others.

“I’ve been hearing a lot from Syracuse, Rutgers, Illinois, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Boston College.”

John Forster Plans to Visit Wisconsin Football During the Spring

Although the Wisconsin football coaching staff is getting involved with John Forster a little later in the recruiting process than you might like, the Badgers aren’t wasting any time getting him on campus for a visit.

Forster confirmed to Badgernotes.com that he intends to visit Madison on April 6 for the Wisconsin Badgers’ fourth scheduled spring practice.

During his junior season at St Joseph Regional High School, Forster carried the ball 50 times for 311 yards and five touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. He also caught 14 passes for 114 yards and another score.

On tape, Forster shows a lot of the traits that Luke Fickell covets in what he’d like a Wisconsin football running back to emulate moving forward. The New Jersey native is powerful between the tackles, versatile, and he can move around the formation and be used as a pass-catcher.

After taking three running backs in the 2024 recruiting cycle with Dilin Jones, Darrion Dupree, and Gideon Ituka, the Badgers will likely take one at the position group in this cycle. Names like Isaiah West, Byron Louis, and Jace Clarizio are also recruits worth monitoring in 2025.
