The heavy lifting has already occurred for Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football recruiting department in the 2024 recruiting class.

However, there are still a few positions of need and intriguing names on their respective board to keep tabs on before the coaching staff turns their attention to late-blooming seniors and identifying potential flip candidates.

Here is a look at a couple of high-profile names Wisconsin still has a puncher’s chance to earn commitments from, along with a familiar name that might resurface in the coming days.

4-Star OT/DE – Liam Andrews

Four-star prospect Liam Andrews out of Brookline, Massachusetts, is arguably the toughest Wisconsin football recruiting battle in the 2024 class to peg.

Considered a top-100 prospect nationally, Andrews is largely being recruited as an offensive lineman. However, Wisconsin sees the 6-foot-5, 260-pound athlete as a defensive lineman.

He is a massive human with impressive athleticism that could play well on either side of the ball. The belief is that Andrews is most heavily considering Penn State, Wisconsin, and South Carolina at this time, considering those schools received official visits.

But it’s anyone’s guess where things currently stand or what kind of timetable he’s working with. I’ve heard the Wisconsin coaching staff feels optimistic about their position with Andrews, but the Nittany Lions will be hard to beat here.

Wisconsin Football Recruiting Target: 4-Star RB Dilin Jones

The Wisconsin football recruiting department had a ton of high-profile targets on campus for official visits in June — and four-star running back Dilin Jones was in that group.

Jones is the No. 9 running back in the 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, and is reportedly considering Wisconsin, Florida State, and Maryland the most.

Although Wisconsin has commitments from Darrion Dupree and Gideon Ituka, Jones is still a take for the Badgers because they desperately need bodies at the position

Right now, the 5-foot-11 tailback from Maryland is still in play.

Wisconsin Football Recruiting Target: 3-Star CB Xavier Lucas

Wisconsin football recruiting has seen an uptick in talent at defensive back in the 2024 cycle. But they’ve still got their eyes on another corner from Florida to round out its group.

Three-star cornerback Xavier Lucas, a 6-foot recruit from Fort Lauderdale, took an official visit to UW on June 2. Since then, there has been a limited amount of traction — but the Badgers board looks different now than it did when he was on campus — so he has their full attention.

Iowa, Illinois, Florida State, and Wisconsin are the teams most heavily involved in the nation’s No. 81 safety recruitment (UW wants him as a CB).

Nobody can say for sure where things stand with Lucas, but he’s the next man up on the Wisconsin football recruiting board at cornerback — and there is plenty to like about his game.
