Four-Star 2024 RB Darrion Dupree Commits to Wisconsin Football
Madison, Wis. — Wisconsin football and position coach Devon Spalding had running back Darrion Dupree from Chicago, Illinois, at the top of their board for the 2024 recruiting class, and now, the Badgers have locked up their main target.
On Friday, the four-star recruit from Mount Carmel High School announced his commitment to the University of Wisconsin over offers from Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Washington, and several other Power 5 programs.

According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Dupree is the No. 366 recruit in the 2024 class, the No. 32 running back, and the No. 8 prospect to hail from Illinois.
“It’s a running back school,” Dupree said. “Can’t go wrong with that. The offensive line they always have a good offensive line. Then coach Fickell overall; I just know he’ll develop me as a person.”
Scouting Report on 2024 Wisconsin Football Commit Darrion Dupree
Wisconsin football picked up a damn good running back to build its offense around because I see Darrion Dupree as a potential foundational piece for the Badgers moving forward — that’s the type of upside we’re talking about.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound tailback doesn’t compare favorably to any other UW running back in recent memory. Dupree is a one-cut runner with effortless straight-line speed once he gets in the open field.
A few other things that stand out are Dupree’s impressive contact balance, he consistently plays bigger than his size, and he is patient as a runner — you don’t always see running back recruits have that in high school because they can “out-athlete” everyone.
More than anything, though, is that the Illinois native has the potential to be a true, three-down all-purpose running back for the Wisconsin football program. Dupree is a natural pass catcher from out of the backfield, but he’s also someone you can send in motion and line up in different parts of the formation to keep defenses guessing.
Dupree has a very real chance to become the Wisconsin football RB1 in the near future, with Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi moving on after the season. It’s also worth mentioning that his skill set pairs nicely with fellow 2024 commit Gideon Ituka.
