The Wisconsin football program picked up a big commitment on Tuesday evening, with four-star EDGE Anelu Lafaele coming on board.

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Lafaele is the No. 510 player in the nation, the No. 35 EDGE, and the No. 2 player in Hawaii.

The Wisconsin football program beat out offers from notable schools like Oklahoma, Washington, Oregon, Arizona State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Utah, Hawaii, and several others.

Wisconsin Football Commit Anelu Lafaele’s Scouting Report

Lafaele boasts an impressive skillset that could make him a big difference-maker at the collegiate level.

The 6-foot-3, 222-pound EDGE rusher has a remarkably quick burst and is consistently seen blowing by opposing blockers. When met with contact, Lafaele has a ferocity that you just can’t teach. The standout from St. Louis High School has great technique, showing the ability to get by opposing players with his rip and swim moves.

When looking at the film, it’s hard not to see some of Nick Herbig‘s skillset, who coincidentally hails from the same high school as Lafaele.

Lafaele’s strength is one of the most eye-catching details about his game. With his ability to create leverage, he has no issues creating contact and using his outstanding technique to get in the backfield and blow up plays early. Plus, when he is in the backfield, he has a hard-hitting nature and flat-out lays the wood on opposing players.

One other thing that stands out is Lafaele’s ability to diagnose plays. The standout from St. Louis High School has patience when reading the offense but also has a twitchiness to react quickly and make a play.

Lafaele has so many facets of his game that stand out. If he can hone his craft even more during his senior season, he has the chance to be a huge contributor, given the limited depth and talent at the EDGE position.

With Lafaele’s commitment, the Wisconsin football program now has 17 recruits in the 2024 class.
