Wisconsin Football Adds Another 4-Star RB to 2024 Class

Wisconsin football added a four-star running back to its 2024 class on Friday. The impressive back would be one of the highest-rated running back recruits to ever play at UW.

Wisconsin Football Recruiting: 4-Star RB Dilin Jones Commits to Badgers

Dilin Jones announced his commitment to Wisconsin football on Twitter Friday afternoon. He is the third running back in the Badgers’ 2024 class, along with Darrion Dupree and Gideon Ituka.

The Badgers beat out 30 other schools that offered scholarships to the Maryland native. UW finished ahead of several notable programs, including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, and 18 other Power 5 schools.  

After UW missed on the top-ranked in-state running back, the Wisconsin football recruiting department locked in on their other targets at the position. Jones, Dupree, and Ituka have each been trending to commit to playing in Madison for months, but insiders were unsure whether the Badgers would bring three tailbacks into the class.

With Chez Mellusi exhausting his eligibility and Braelon Allen expected to declare for the NFL draft following this season, it is not shocking to see Wisconsin stock up at the position.

Wisconsin Football Recruiting: Scouting Report on 4-Star RB Dilin Jones

The five-foot-eleven-inch rusher was one of the most coveted players at his position in the 2024 class. Weighing in at 180 pounds, the product of Our Lady of Good Counsel HS shows breakaway speed and versatility out of the backfield.

He has a knack for making defenders miss and is unafraid to run through contact. In his junior season, he rushed for 804 yards and 12 touchdowns on 86 carries.

Jones is a consensus four-star recruit. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is the 13th-ranked running back and 178th-ranked overall player in the 2024 class nationally. 

The blue-chip prospect would be the 30th-highest-ranked recruit at any position to ever play on the Wisconsin football team, according to 247Sports. He would be the fourth-highest-rated running back recruit ever at UW – behind only John Clay, Jalen Berger, and Corey Clement.

Wisconsin Football Recruiting: State of the 2024 Class

With the latest commitment, Wisconsin football is up to 20 commitments in the 2024 recruiting class. According to Rivals, UW has the tenth-highest-rated class in the country, trailing Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M, and Stanford.

According to the 247Sports Composite, seven of the Badgers’ 20 recruits are four-star talents. The class ranks 17th nationally according to 247 and fifth in the Big Ten. UW trails conference foes Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and Penn State.
