Wisconsin Football Offers Former Oklahoma DL in Transfer Portal
The Wisconsin football program is continuing to look for defensive line help.
The Wisconsin football program is actively looking for help in the trenches through the transfer portal. There isn’t a bigger position of need than at defensive line, and the Badgers have dished out several offers to fill in a thin group.
Former Oklahoma DL Kelvin Gilliam was one of the most recent transfers to announce an offer from Luke Fickell and company.

Gilliam is coming off of his third season with the Sooners, seeing time sparingly.
Coming out of high school, Gilliam was a highly-touted prospect. He was a consensus top-125 prospect, officially ranked as the No. 107 player in the nation and the No. 7 defensive lineman in the class of 2021, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He was also named the Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year in his senior season.
Gilliam appeared in 19 games in three seasons for the Sooners, registering ten tackles, 0.5 TFLs, and a QB hurry. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
Wisconsin has only four returning contributors on the defensive line next season. There will be some young talent backing up James Thompson Jr, Ben Barten, Darian Varner, and Cade McDonald, such as Jamel Howard and Will McDonald, but adding some more bodies is critical.
As it stands, the Wisconsin football program holds transfer commitments from QB Tyler Van Dyke, OLB John Pius, LB Leon Lowery Jr, TE Jackson McGohan, and LS Cayson Pfeiffer. With the five commitments, UW currently holds the No. 10 recruiting class in the country, per the 247Sports rankings.
