Maitre, a sixth-year senior, is the third Badger to announce their intentions to enter the NFL Draft, joining Braelon Allen and Tanor Bortolini.
Wisconsin Football Cornerback Jason Maitre Declares for the NFL Draft
Maitre joined Wisconsin as part of the massive transfer portal class after Luke Fickell took over the program. Before coming to Madison, Maitre spent five seasons at Boston College. He announced an intial commitment to Liberty after entering the transfer portal, but later walked back that commitment to join the Badgers.
The Massachusetts native played in all 12 games at nickel corner, recording 33 tackles, three pass deflections, and an interception. Maitre logged a season-high five tackles against Georgia Souther and averaged over three tackles per game.
In six seasons, Matire logged total career stats of 166 tackles, 22 pass deflections, four sacks, and four interceptions.
With Maitre electing not to play in the bowl game, the Badgers will look to redshirt sophomore Owen Arnett to fill in. Arnett has spent much of his time on special teams, but he did make an appearance in the week two matchup against Georgia Southern, where he logged a tackle.
The Wisconsin football program will take on No. 13 LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl on January 1st, 2024.
Best of luck to Jason Maitre in the NFL.
