The Wisconsin football program is turning up its efforts to improve the Badgers linebacker room through the transfer portal this offseason.

A source close to the situation confirmed to BadgerNotes.com that Northern Iowa linebacker Jahsiah Galvan will be in Madison this weekend on an official visit — set to begin today and run through Sunday.

The Badgers previously had Buffalo linebacker Shaun Dolac on campus but decided to redirect their efforts toward Galvan, who represents an athletic upgrade and has three years of remaining eligibility.

Wisconsin Football Shifting Focus to Northern Iowa Transfer Jahsiah Galvan.

Jahsiah Galvan is coming off a standout redshirt freshman season where he led the Northern Iowa Panthers in tackles (77) while also chipping in nine pressures, 5.5 TFLs, a forced fumble, and an interception en route to Missouri Valley All-Newcomer Team honors.

The 6-foot-3, 203-pound linebacker from West Liberty, Iowa, holds a scholarship offer from the Badgers right now, according to the same source, and is a target the Wisconsin football staff wants to lock up before he leaves campus.

He was considered a three-star safety recruit ranked outside the top 1,000 coming out of high school. Galvan held scholarship offers from the Air Force, Army, Buffalo, Dartmouth, Nebraska, Penn, and South Dakota but has transitioned to linebacker quite nicely.

Pro Football Focus gave Galvan an 81.2 grade (good) last season but, perhaps more notably, finished with an 85.8 (high quality) in coverage. Galvan is so intriguing because he would bring something new: the capacity to excel in coverage — which is a facet the Badgers have been lacking while also providing an upgrade in athleticism.

Should the Wisconsin football program be able to close this one after his visit, this would be a big pickup for the Badgers, who lost starting linebacker Jordan Turner to the transfer portal. UW returns Jake Chaney and Christan Alliegro next season, and Galvan would undoubtedly factor into the mix at or near the top of the depth chart.
