After initiating his entry into the transfer portal, the Wisconsin Badgers football team’s starting inside linebacker, Jordan Turner, received immediate interest from various programs seeking his talents.

Among those teams, Michigan State emerged as a realistic destination, with Turner scheduling an official visit under the Spartans’ new head coach, Jonathan Smith, who came over from Oregon State.

The interest in Michigan State is fueled not only by the team’s need to fill starting roles from the large number of portal entries but also by Turner’s existing rapport with the Spartans’ new defensive coordinator, Joe Rossi. This connection traces back to Turner’s earlier interactions during his recruitment days, even securing an offer from the Gophers.

It appears that the former Wisconsin football inside linebacker heard everything he was looking for because, on Monday, Turner announced on social media that he was committing to Michigan State.

Former Wisconsin Football LB Jordan Turner Joining Michigan State

During Jordan Turner’s tenure with the Wisconsin Badgers football team, he played 30 games. He tallied 135 tackles, 37 pressures, 12.5 TFLs, six pass deflections, 5.0 sacks, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles over his career.

In 2023 alone, Turner amassed 61 tackles, 13 pressures, 6.5 TFLs, 3.0 sacks, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble. However, he wasn’t a terrific scheme fit for the new direction the Wisconsin Badgers wanted to go on defense. That being said, Turner’s credentials should solidify him as an instant starter for the Michigan State Spartans.

The Wisconsin football community extends its best wishes to Turner in his future endeavors, and thankfully, the Badgers won’t have to play against him during the 2024 season.
