Wisconsin Football Defensive End Rodas Johnson Enters the Transfer Portal
Johnson was a multi-year starter on the defensive line for Wisconsin, making ten starts in 2022 and eight starts in 2023.
In 34 career games with Wisconsin, Johnson recorded 50 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble.
This past season, the 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive end registered 18 tackles and 0.5 sacks. It was a year of limited production for Johnson and the defensive line as a whole, as they only mustered up 9.5 sacks in 2023.
Johnson came to UW as a member of the 2019 recruiting class, ranked as the No. 423 player in the nation and the No. 32 defensive tackle prospect. The former three-star prospect drew interest from Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Cincinnati, and many others.
The Badgers are looking for help at defensive line through the portal, and losing Johnson only adds pressure to the staff to bring in some extra bodies in the trenches. Wisconsin recently hosted Florida State transfer Ayobami Tifase on a visit and has a few other defensive line offers on the table at the moment.
UW’s defensive line group will be something to watch closely during the offseason as the Badgers look to supplement the losses of Johnson and other outgoing seniors.
Johnson is now the ninth Wisconsin football player to enter the transfer portal.
