When the Wisconsin Badgers football team takes on No. 13 LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Day, they’ll do so without having to face the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

According to a report from Brett McMurphy, a college football insider for The Action Network, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in the ReliaQuest Bowl against the Badgers.

Daniels is coming off a season where he completed 72% of his passes for 3,812 yards and 40 TDs with just four interceptions. His 11.7 yards per attempt led college football. He also rushed 135 times for 1,134 yards and 10 scores. Daniels was the only quarterback in the country to throw for 3,000+ yards and run for over 1,000.

Wisconsin Football Catches Significant Break Ahead of LSU Matchup

Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers football team were already considered to be significant underdogs heading into the RealiQuest Bowl.

Even though Jayden Daniels officially won’t play, the Badgers are still seven-point underdogs, according to DraftKings sportsbook. But this helps.

The Wisconsin Badgers finished the regular season with a 7-5 record and 5-4 in Big Ten play but wound up winning both of its trophy games against Nebraska and Minnesota to end the season on a high note.

However, Wisconsin football will also be without its star running back, Braelon Allen, in the bowl game because he declared for the NFL draft. The depth chart will look awfully different for the Badgers the next time they take the field.
