Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has continued their search for talented defensive backs with another impressive offer.

Deylen Platt, a 2024 three-star recruit from Florida, has received his seventh offer now after speaking with the Badgers. Wisconsin did not need much of a look to know that Platt was someone they wanted in their program. The 6-foot-3-inch, 175-pound corner back has received six total offers so far, with the biggest coming from Ole Miss and Oregon State. The Badgers became the first Big Ten program to offer the recruit, and also marked the largest offer the recruit has received.

Deylen Platt is Built For Wisconsin

The talented defensive back currently ranks as a three-star recruit in the 2024 class. Platt is also ranked as the 88th corner back in the class and the 142nd recruit from Florida. The Florida native also plays basketball and runs track for his high school, where he qualified for the 400-meter district finals. This past season, Platt solidified himself as a starter with a solid season in the secondary.

Platt recorded 38 total tackles and an interception this past season while leading his team defensively. The rising Senior is a versatile defensive back that can play as a dominant coverage corner. However, Platt can also help with the run defense as well. Platt is able to do a bit of everything as a corner back, which could allow him to find the field faster at the next level. The defensive back plays against rather tough competition, including an alternate team from IMG Academy, which could also provide great experience for the next level.

The defensive back is a tackle oriented player, with the majority of his plays coming from big hits or open field tackles. Platt does not have the greatest eye for the ball or the play in the air, but still has plenty of time to develop. The defensive back is also not challenged much, which factors into his lack of aerial plays.

Can Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Land Deylen Platt?

The Wisconsin Badgers would be a great landing spot for Platt due to his scheme fit. Platt is a physical player, and his ability to stop the run is also something that Wisconsin loves. The versatile player is durable and not afraid to initiate contact when approaching the ball carrier. Coach Luke Fickell has been aggressively trying to add depth to the secondary. Whether it be through the portal or recruiting classes, Fickell wants a strong secondary.

While Wisconsin has plenty of strong returning talent, Fickell is also concerned about building for the future. Adding an under the radar recruit like Platt could be a big addition for the Badgers. Given his scheme and natural ability as well, he could have an advantage over other recruits. Currently, the Badgers are only the sixth team to offer Platt. Given his recruitment status, the Badgers could potentially land him without much trouble.

The Wisconsin Badgers are eager to continue to add to their recruiting classes. Landing another few recruits during this active period would prove to be huge for the football program.
