Here’s a look at the newest addition to the 2025 recruiting class and what stands out.
Wisconsin Football Commit Brenden Anes: On the Recruiting Trail
According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Anes is the No. 625 player in the nation, the No. 59 linebacker, and the No. 18 player in Tennessee.
Wisconsin extended an offer to Anes in November. Tennessee, Indiana, Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Liberty, Memphis, Charlotte, Western Kentucky, and Austin Peay also threw their hats in the ring for the three-star prospect.
Anes was a part of a big junior day visit weekend and is now the third junior day visitor to announce his commitment, joining four-star DB Jaimier Scott and three-star ATH Cody Haddad.
With Anes’ commitment, he joins Cooper Catalano as 2025 linebackers to give their verbal pledge to the Wisconsin football program.
Wisconsin Football Commit Brenden Anes: Scouting Report
Anes just wrapped up his junior season at Fred J Page High School, seeing time as both a middle linebacker, outside linebacker, and even a little bit of running back. The three-star prospect reported season stats of 99 tackles, 31 TFLs, eight sacks, three interceptions, three defensive TDs, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. With those marks, he was named the Region Defensive Player of the Year.
One of the things that really stands out in Anes’ junior film is his speed and his burst. The three-star prospect is often seen causing mayhem in the backfield due to his quick jump off the line and ridiculously quick closing speed. While Anes is decisive in his play, he doesn’t take much time to think about it; it’s read-and-react right away.
Anes is a tough player to block, and that’s very apparent in his tape. The Fred J Page High School standout has quick, aggressive hands to fend off opposing blockers to pair with good strength and physicality at the point of contact. You won’t see Anes being manhandled or thrown around often.
His coverage skills don’t jump off the tape, but he is very well-rounded in that area. Anes has the fluid hips and ability to stop on a dime that make him a solid linebacker against the pass. He recorded three interceptions last year, and each one was on a perfectly timed route jump, giving a glimpse into his solid anticipation. While I see Anes as a better run defender, there is some untapped potential in his coverage game.
In simple terms, Anes is a game-wrecker. He already has a lot of skills that should translate well to the next level, and the Badgers being able to lock down the three-star prospect early is big, as he should receive a bump in the rankings once he gets a better look from talent evaluators.
With Anes’ commitment, the Wisconsin Badgers football program now holds the No. 10 recruiting class in the nation, per the 247Sports rankings.
