The Wisconsin football program picked up its fifth commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle on Wednesday, as three-star ATH/safety Cody Haddad announced his commitment to the Badgers

The Ohio native took to social media to make it official.

Here’s a look at the newest addition to the 2025 recruiting class and what stands out.

Wisconsin Football Commit Cody Haddad: On the Recruiting Trail

According to the 247Sports recruiting rankings, Haddad is the No. 35 ATH in the class and the No. 15 player in Ohio.

The three-star prospect earned an offer from Wisconsin back in November. Haddad earned offers from some MAC schools at the start of his recruitment, but it started to ramp up recently as he garnered some Power Four attention.

Colin Hitschler acted as the primary recruiter for Haddad, and UW was able to beat out offers from Nebraska, Purdue, Cincinnati, Duke, Kansas, Liberty, and Toledo, among others.

The Wisconsin football staff being able to close this one out early is big, especially considering how quickly his recruitment was picking up steam.

Haddad is now the second defensive back to announce his commitment, joining three-star safety Remington Moss

Wisconsin Football Commit Cody Haddad: Scouting Report

Haddad plays in all three phases at St Ignatius High School, seeing reps at safety, receiver, kick returner, and punt returner, but he’ll play in the secondary at the next level. He appeared in just four games as a junior due to a broken arm, but he made the most of his opportunities, recording 42 tackles, four interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

The biggest thing that stands out on film is his tackling ability. Not only does Haddad possess the burst and closing speed, but he really packs a punch at the point of contact. You won’t find many clips of the three-star prospect tackling high or using his arms, as he’s consistently seen lowering his pad level, almost like he has a crosshair on opposing players’ legs.

Haddad excels in pass coverage, possessing the speed and the fluid hips to keep up with receivers downfield. The St Ignatius High School standout is a ball hawk, showing great anticipation and using his burst to jump routes and snag passes. His experience on the other side of the ball certainly helps, as he’s more conscious of opposing receivers’ tendencies.

Looking at his film, I think Haddad is a seamless fit for the “dollar” position. Mike Tressel has made it clear what he’s looking for in that position: a safety who can defend against the pass that also possesses a hard-hitting nature and the ability to stop the run like a linebacker. Haddad checks all of those boxes.

His versatility and experience in all three phases give him a leg up compared to other prospects. Because of that experience, he may be able to see the field early, specifically on special teams.

Standing at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Haddad will need to add a bit more to his frame, especially if he does end up filling that dollar position, but Badgers strength and conditioning coach Brady Collins won’t have an issue with getting him bulked up.

With Haddad’s commitment, the Wisconsin Badgers football program now has the No. 16 recruiting class in the nation, per the industry-generated composite rankings.
