The Wisconsin football program is off to a strong start in the 2025 recruiting class, with seven players already announcing their verbal commitment to the Badgers.

With UW locking down some recruitments early, it’s no surprise that some teams that were a bit late to the party are still trying to throw their hat in the ring. Miami is one of those programs, as the Hurricanes extended a scholarship offer to four-star ATH Jaimier Scott on Monday.

This isn’t the first time that Miami has come knocking for one of UW’s prized commits. Just before National Signing Day in December, the Hurricanes made a late push for 2024 three-star DB Xavier Lucas, making him a priority target and setting a visit. Wisconsin was inevitably able to retain his commitment.

According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Scott is the No. 284 player in the nation, the No. 17 ATH, and the No. 12 player in Ohio.

Scott announced his commitment to Wisconsin last week over offers from finalists Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee, plus others from Purdue, Michigan State, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, and many more.

The four-star prospect was primarily recruited by Colin Hitschler, who left the Wisconsin football program for a safeties coach job at Alabama. A coach departing, especially one with a strong recruiting track record, always adds an additional wrinkle on the recruiting front.

There’s a long way to go until National Signing Day for the 2025 class, so it will be interesting to see if UW can keep Scott’s commitment going forward.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program holds the No. 10 recruiting class in the nation, per the 247Sports rankings.
