Commitment to the Wisconsin Football Program

UW did a heck of a job retaining Lucas, who took two unofficial visits to Miami and an official visit just a week ago. There was some speculation that the Hurricanes might be able to flip Lucas, but UW was able to keep him in-house.

During his recruitment, Lucas fielded 34 total offers. Wisconsin beat out Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida State, Miami, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, and many others for Lucasโ€™ services. It was a tight race at the end, with Lucas seriously considering Florida State, but after the Seminoles took multiple defensive backs, the Fort Lauderdale native decided to commit to Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football program.ย

Lucas joins Raphael Dunn as the two safety commits in the 2024 recruiting cycle. UW will have Hunter Wohler, Preston Zachman, Austin Brown, Owen Arnett, Braedyn Moore, and Justin Taylor returning at safety in 2024.
