Former Wisconsin football OLB Kaden Johnson, who entered the portal at the beginning of January after four seasons with the Badgers, has found a new home.

Johnson took to social media to announce he would continue his playing career at Nevada.

The former Badger will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Wolf Pack.

Former Wisconsin Football OLB Kaden Johnson Finds New Home

Johnson initially joined the Wisconsin football as part of the 2020 recruiting class. The former Badger was ranked as a composite four-star prospect, and UW was able to beat out offers from LSU, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Oregon State, among others.

During his time with Wisconsin, Johnson appeared in 35 games. He saw action in every game, recording five tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery, a step down from his 2022 production when he notched 21 tackles. His career marks with UW finished at 29 tackles, 1.5 TFLs, a sack, and a fumble recovery.

The Badgers staff has overhauled the linebacker corps through the transfer portal, with Leon Lowery Jr and John Pius coming in at OLB, as well as Tackett Curtis, Jaheim Thomas, and Sebastian Cheeks at the inside. Johnson would likely have seen his role dwindle even more with the new bodies at the position, making his initial decision to transfer a bit unsurprising.

Johnson is the 14th former Badger to publicly announce their next destination. At the time of this writing, Keontez Lewis, Ross Gengler, Tommy Brunner, and Amaun Williams are still looking for a new home.

Best of luck to Johnson in his final year.
