The Wisconsin football program has lost yet another player to the transfer portal, as OLB Kaden Johnson is looking for a new home after four seasons with the Badgers.

Johnson, who joined UW as a part of the 2020 recruiting class, appeared in 35 games. His best statistical season came in 2022 when he appeared in all 13 games and registered 21 tackles. He also appeared in every game in 2023 and posted five tackles. His career marks with the Badgers will finish at 28 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.
Coming out of high school, Johnson was ranked as the No. 181 player in the nation, the No. 13 OLB, and the No. 1 player in Minnesota. Wisconsin was able to beat out offers from LSU, Michigan State, Oregon State, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, Tennessee, California, and others for Johnson’s services.
This move isn’t a surprising one, as Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football program have overhauled their linebacker room through the transfer portal. UW earned commitments from William & Mary transfer John Pius and Syracuse transfer Leon Lowery Jr. at outside linebacker, both of whom will likely see a bulk of the snaps and impact Johnson’s playing time.
Johnson is the third Badger to enter the portal today, joining OL Zack Mlsna and DE Tommy Brunner.
Wisconsin has now lost 17 total players to the transfer portal.
