The Wisconsin football program saw its second player of the day enter the transfer portal, as freshman offensive lineman Zack Mlsna is now looking for a new home after one season with the Badgers.

The news of Mlsna’s departure comes shortly after DE Tommy Brunner announced his intentions to transfer.

Wisconsin Football Loses True Freshman to Transfer Portal

Mlsna, a Cashton, Wisconsin native, joined UW in 2023 as a walk-on. He did not see the field during the season.

Mlsna was a two-way player in high school but joined Wisconsin as an offensive lineman. At Cashton High School, Mlsna recorded 43 tackles, 13 TFLs, and five sacks as a senior. He was named All-Conference, All-Region, a finalist for the Thomas Award — the award the top senior offensive lineman in Wisconsin — and earned AP All-State Second-Team honors after a strong senior campaign.

Mlsna was a two-star prospect coming out of high school, ranked as the No. 220 offensive tackle and the No. 17 player in Wisconsin. The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive lineman earned Division II offers from Bemidji State, Augustana, Minnesota State-Mankato, and Southwest Minnesota State, but Mlsna opted to walk on with the Badgers.

Mlsna is now the 16th player to enter the transfer portal and the fourth offensive lineman, joining Nolan Rucci, Trey Wedig, and Dylan Barrett.

Best of luck to Mlsna at his next stop.
