Wisconsin football star Braelon Allen has been stacking up loads of preseason recognition prior to his junior year.

From preseason award watch lists to making the “Freaks” list by The Athletic, Allen has been getting significant attention. However, the most recent recognition he received outshines the others.

AP released their preseason All-Americans list on Monday, and Braelon Allen made the cut.

Braelon Allen Named to AP Preseason All-American Second Team.

Allen was named to AP’s Preseason All-American Second Team alongside Arkansas running back Raheim Sanders. Michigan tailback Blake Corum and Ole Miss tailback Quinshon Judkins took home the first-team honors.

Allen is coming off a standout season. In his sophomore year, the Fond du Lac native notched 1,242 yards and 11 touchdowns in 230 carries. Those marks would land him as a consensus All-Big Ten second-team nomination.

As mentioned, the junior tailback has garnered some significant attention during the offseason. Allen has been named to watch lists for the Maxwell Award, the Doak Walker Award, and the Walter Camp Award. Plus, multiple major news outlets honored the Wisconsin standout as a top 50 player in the nation.

Although the air raid is now in Madison, that shouldn’t slow down Allen’s production. The junior was running into packed boxes throughout his first two years. With a more spread-out offense, Wisconsin football fans could finally see Allen at his full potential.

In what could be his final year as a Badger, Allen looks primed for a breakout season. If he lives up to expectations, he could be one of the players in line to receive some serious hardware following the 2023 season.
