Who’s Next For Wisconsin Football in the 2024 Recruiting Cycle?

The Wisconsin football program has built a standout recruiting class in year one under Luke Fickell. Who could be next in the 2024 cycle?

Wisconsin Badgers football head coach Luke Fickell

The Wisconsin football program has put together a standout 2024 class in the first year under Luke Fickell.

As it stands, UW holds 20 commits in the cycle, good for the No. 18 recruiting class in the nation, headlined by recent commit Dilin Jones.

We’re approaching the doldrums of off-season recruiting, but Wisconsin is still looking to fill out the class. Word is the Badgers are expected to take around 22 recruits in the cycle, so that begs the question, who’s next?

Wisconsin Football Target Xavier Lucas

Xavier Lucas, a three-star safety out of Florida, is a prospect who has been on Wisconsin’s radar for some time now.

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Lucas is the No. 771 player in the nation, the No. 82 safety, and the No. 107 player in Florida.

Lucas took an official visit to UW on June 2nd as a part of the massive first recruiting weekend. Since then, the three-star prospect has made stops at Iowa and Illinois.

Wisconsin and Florida State are seemingly the leaders in his recruitment. Iowa is trying to climb back into the fight, but it seems that some separation has been made between his other top schools.

Lucas would be an excellent addition to fill out the secondary if he pulls the trigger on a commitment, but no deadline has been made for his decision.

Wisconsin Football Target Dominic Nichols

Dominic Nichols will be a very interesting prospect to watch going forward.

The four-star defensive lineman is already committed to Michigan. However, there’s a lot of smoke that he may be considering a flip. The Wolverines have stockpiled their defensive front in the 2024 cycle, currently holding eight defensive line commits.

Since his commitment, Nichols has liked some tweets about a potential de-commitment or flip. New UW commit Anelu Lafaele even campaigned to get Nichols to Madison.

There hasn’t been any real indication that Nichols will de-commit. However, his likes on Twitter and a newly scheduled visit to Clemson have added to the speculation.

With all the smoke here, I’d keep a very close eye on the current Michigan commit going forward. It bodes well for the Wisconsin football program that they’ve already hosted Nichols on an official visit, but the new Clemson visit will add some suspense going forward.
