Wisconsin Badgers Football

It’s been a busy couple of days for the Wisconsin football program, especially on the recruiting front, but fear not because BadgerNotes can help get you back up to speed with a roundup of some important news you may have missed.

USC Offers Wisconsin Football Commit

The first commitment in the Wisconsin football 2024 recruiting class was three-star CB Austin Alexander out of Chicago Heights, Illinois, back in late October.

However, that commitment came under interim head coach Jim Leonhard. Even though Alexander has re-affirmed his intentions to remain with UW, other schools have continued their pursuit of the talented defensive back.

On Monday, the 6-foot-1, 165-pound CB picked up an offer from USC, setting off a chain reaction that included Northern Illinois and Iowa State.

According to 247Sports, Alexander is the No. 48 CB in the 2024 recruiting class and the No. 14 player in Illinois.

Because Wisconsin football was the only program that offered the three-star CB before he committed, don’t be surprised to see teams start swarming now that schools have his junior season film available.

Wisconsin Football Hosts Junior Day Before Dead Period

This past weekend, Luke Fickell and his coaching staff hosted its annual junior day at the University of Wisconsin

Wisconsin football has two commits in the 2024 recruiting cycle, four-star QB Mabrey Mettauer and three-star CB Austin Alexander, both of which were on campus. But all eyes were on the bevy of in-state prospects this coaching staff desperately wants to get into the fold.

Among the notable names on campus were RB Jordan Marshall, OT Donovan Harbour, OT Ben Roebuck, LB Sam Pilof, TE Rob Booker, S Koi Perich, LB Cooper Catalano, RB Corey Smith, and several others.

Many of the visitors came away impressed with the new direction of the Wisconsin football program. And given the depth of in-state talent in 2024, this class could set the tone for the Badgers’ future on the recruiting trail under the new regime.

Wisconsin Offers Son of NFL Hall-of-Famer

On Monday, Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football coaching staff extended a scholarship offer to 2024 three-star safety Kennedy Urlacher out of Chandler, Arizona.

If Urlacher sounds familiar, it’s because Kennedy is the son of Chicago Bears legend and NFL hall-of-fame linebacker Brian Urlacher.

According to 247Sports, Urlacher is the No. 62 safety in the 2024 recruiting class and the No. 20 player in Arizona.

Right now, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound S holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado State, Iowa, Miami, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and several others.
