It has been a busy few days for the Wisconsin Badgers. Don’t worry; BadgerNotes has you covered with a quick roundup of all the news you may have missed.

Wisconsin Badgers lose to Maryland

Wisconsin Badgers basketball fell to Maryland on Wednesday evening 73-55. In an abysmal defensive showing, Wisconsin couldn’t climb back into it after falling behind at the half

Connor Essegian led the way for Wisconsin in scoring with 19 points. Two other players ended in double figures, with Tyler Wahl notching 13 points and Steven Crowl registering 11 points.

Maryland received significant contributions from Jahmir Young, who finished with 22 points, and Donta Scott, who registered a double-double. The Terrapins made 56% of their shots, shooting 28-for-50 from the field.

The Badgers have now lost five of their last six games. UW will take on Illinois on Saturday, looking to get back on track. Wisconsin needs a win in the worst way to keep the confidence up and continue to fight for an NCAA tournament bid.

2024 CB de-commits

Austin Alexander, the first recruit of the 2024 cycle, announced he will be de-committing from Wisconsin on Wednesday. The three-star CB took to Twitter to announce his decision.

Wisconsin now has just one recruit for the 2024 class with quarterback Mabrey Mettauer. Alexander is a three-star CB out of Illinois. He’s in the top 50 cornerbacks in the class and the 14th-ranked player in the state. Alexander holds offers from USC, Nebraska, Iowa State, and Northern Illinois.

Wisconsin still has plenty of time to replace Alexander, and they may still recruit him, as his tweet suggested. No matter where he ends up, he’ll be an excellent piece to the secondary.

Wisconsin Badgers offer five-star wide receiver

The Badgers took a big swing at one of the nation’s top recruits in the 2025 class. Wide receiver Jaime Ffrench Jr took to Twitter to announce Wisconsin has offered him.

Ffrench, a Florida native, is among the best in his class at receiver. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver is ranked in the top 25 in the 2025 class. On top of that, Ffrench is the fifth-ranked wide receiver and the fourth-ranked player in Florida.

Ffrench holds offers from the most prominent schools in the country, including Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan. It will be a challenging recruitment for Wisconsin, but they’ve thrown their hat in the ring.
