Top Wisconsin Football Target Expected to Land at Big Ten Rival

Madison, Wis. – It’s been a busy week for the Wisconsin football program on the recruiting front.

On Saturday, UW landed a commitment from their top tailback target in four-star RB Darrion Dupree. After that, Wisconsin kept the momentum going by picking up a big-time commitment from four-star EDGE Anelu Lafaele.

We’re approaching the slow period of offseason recruiting, but UW is still looking at multiple big-time targets hoping to steal a commitment. However, the top remaining target on Wisconsin’s board is seemingly trending towards a Big Ten rival.

Can Wisconsin Football Land 4-Star Recruit Liam Andrews? 

Penn State, who has earned commitments from multiple Wisconsin recruits, has received a Crystal Ball prediction to land four-star lineman Liam Andrews from 247Sports’ Brian Dohn and Evan Flood.

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Andrews is the No. 92 player in the nation, the No. 3 interior lineman, and the No. 2 player in Massachusetts.

Andrews took an official visit to Wisconsin on June 9th. The Wisconsin football program’s staff impressed the four-star prospect during his visit.

“It was another great visit. It was a lot of reinforcing what I already knew. I am a priority for them,” Andrews said. “It was great to sit down and talk football with coach Scruggs.”

Despite UW making a good impression, Penn State has swooped in and quickly became the leader in Andrews’ recruitment.

Defensive line recruiting has been disappointing for UW in the first cycle under the new regime, and Andrews landing at a Big Ten rival like Penn State certainly doesn’t help. However, Wisconsin still has plenty of time to right the ship and get help at that spot, and flipping three-star defensive lineman Dillan Johnson is a great start.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program holds 19 commitments in the 2024 class and the No. 17 class in the country.
