After a rough week that saw de-commitments from two Wisconsin football recruits, Rob Booker and Vernon Woodward, the Badgers coaching staff needs some good news to hang its hat on.

Could that good news be coming on July 1 when 2024 cornerback target Lloyd Irvin announced on social media he’d make his commitment

Wisconsin recruiting insiders are torn.

Evan Flood from 247 recently placed a crystal ball prediction for Irvin to stay home and join the Maryland Terrapins with a confidence level of “6.” However, Jon McNamara of Rivals currently has a future cast prediction for the three-star cornerback to choose Wisconsin.

If Wisconsin Football Lands Lloyd Irvin, What Are They Getting?

Should Wisconsin football recruiting ace Colin Hitschler find a way to land a commitment from Lloyd Irvin, the Badgers would be bringing in another defensive back with impressive size and length (6-foot-3).

“They’re a big contender,” Irvin said. “This coaching staff at Wisconsin has experience getting long cornerbacks into the league and helping them develop.”

According to the 247Sports Composite, Irvin is the No. 1244 player in the nation, the No. 114 CB, and the No. 34 player in Maryland.

In total, Irvin has racked up scholarship offers from Michigan, West Virginia, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Maryland, and several others.

The three-star prospect took an official visit to Wisconsin on June 9 and, since then, has taken officials to Boston College and Maryland. That said, Irvin listed Wisconsin football, Maryland, and West Virginia as his three finalists.

From a schematics standpoint, Irvin would make a ton of sense, profiling as a press-man corner that plays on the boundary and makes an impact as a run defender.

We’ll get our final answer on Saturday, but for now, all Badger fans can do is wait and see.
