The Wisconsin football program has had some ups and downs on the recruiting trail as of late.

Last week saw two de-commitments in the 2024 class, with in-state TE Rob Booker announcing his de-commitment and three-star CB Vernon Woodward announcing he had flipped his commitment to Illinois.

Still, UW is in on several of their top targets. One of those 2024 targets, Lloyd Irvin III, took to Twitter to announce he will commit on Saturday.

Wisconsin Football Target Lloyd Irvin III Announces Commitment Details

According to the 247Sports Composite, Irvin is the No. 1244 player in the nation, the No. 114 CB, and the No. 34 player in Maryland.

Irvin has racked up 16 total scholarship offers. Other notable offers include Michigan, West Virginia, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Maryland, and several others. The three-star prospect took an official visit to Wisconsin on June 9th. Since then, Irvin has made stops at Boston College and Maryland.

Yesterday, Irvin sat down with Brian Dohn of 247Sports to discuss his decision. The three-star prospect listed Wisconsin, Maryland, and West Virginia as his finalists.

“Wisconsin appeals to me most from a scheme standpoint,” Irvin told 247Sports. “I am a press man corner, and anyone who evaluates me knows that, so it’s having that boundary corner who presses all the tie, that really, really appeals to me.”

After losing Vernon Woodward to Illinois, supplementing the loss with Irvin would be significant for the Wisconsin football program. Irvin is a rangy corner who could thrive in the revamped UW defense.

There is currently a Crystal Ball prediction for Irvin to land at Maryland. However, Wisconsin is not out of the fight and could be the team to watch to steal a commitment from the hometown Terrapins.
