Wisconsin football and position coach Devon Spalding have one running back at the top of their recruiting board for the 2024 class, and then the rest falls in line behind him.

Thankfully, the recruit I’m referencing, four-star running back Darrion Dupree out of Chicago, Illinois, looks more and more like a future Wisconsin Badgers player with every passing day.

A trusted source to BadgerNotes has shared that the Wisconsin football team is the “runaway favorite” to land the dynamic tailback. This tidbit of information aligns with what other major recruiting networks have reported, such as 247Sports having a crystal ball projection for UW and Jon McNamara of Rivals, who placed a Futurecast prediction of his own.

As it stands, the industry-generated composite rankings have Dupree as the No. 363 recruit in the 2024 class, the No. 35 running back, and the No. 8 prospect to hail from Illinois.

“It’s a running back school,” he told 247Sports. “Can’t go wrong with that. The offensive line they always have a good offensive line. Then coach Fickell overall; I just know he’ll develop me as a person.”

On June 2, Dupree will take an official visit to Madison, where Luke Fickell and his staff will put on the full-court press to land a verbal before he takes his only other scheduled official to Illinois the following weekend.

Dupree currently holds 28 offers, most notably from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Rutgers, and several other Power 5 programs.

Final Thoughts on Wisconsin Football + Their Pursuit of Darrion Dupree

Wisconsin football expects to take two RBs in the 2024 recruiting cycle, and it’s clear that Luke Fickell and his staff are prioritizing the 5-foot-10, 190-pound tailback from Mt. Carmel High School above anyone else at this point.

No commitment is imminent, but the shifty tailback seems to be trending to the cardinal and white and would instantly become one of the highest-rated recruits in the 2024 cycle.

With the collective intel coming in on Dupree’s recruitment, I feel pretty damn good about this one.
