The new Wisconsin football coaching regime prioritized rebuilding the Badgers’ running back room in the 2024 recruiting class and wound up signing three talented tailbacks in that cycle.

That success allows the Wisconsin Badgers to be more selective with this next group and have begun to zero in on a few top-of-the-board targets.

One intriguing player from that group, Chase Garnett from Argyle, Texas, who plays for Jason Witten at Liberty Christian High School, will be on campus this coming weekend for a junior day visit to Madison.

“My lead recruiter and the person in the staff who has really been recruiting me the most is Coach Spalding,” Garnett told Badgernotes. “He’s come to my school to visit me many times and calls and texts me all the time, which is a really big thing. Not only is the Wisconsin coaching staff saying they are interested, but they are showing it too.”

Garnett, currently un-ranked by the primary recruiting services, holds scholarship offers from Arkansas State, Toledo, Tulsa, USF, and UTSA. He has also been hearing from Wisconsin, Stanford, Northwestern, UConn, and LA Tech, among others.

Wisconsin Football Welcomes Chase Garnett on Junior Day Visit

The Wisconsin football program has yet to offer Chase Garnett a scholarship, but building on that relationship will be key as the Badgers continue to round out their top recruiting targets at the position.

Garnett is coming off of a massive junior season, where he carried the rock 232 times for 1,743 yards and 31 total touchdowns (most in school history), helping lead his school to a Texas state championship.

“Coaches have told me they could see me playing a big role on the team similar to other backs in Wisconsin history,” Garnett said. “They’ve told me they think I’m a special player and that they really think I’m a guy they could see in their program having a lot of success.”

Right now, the Wisconsin Badgers football team is involved with running backs like Isaiah West, Tory Blaylock, Iverson Howard, and newly offered Jace Clarizio, so it’ll be interesting to see if the 5-foot-9, 200-pound tailback leaves Madison with a scholarship offer.

An offer would likely put Wisconsin football in the driver’s seat in Garnett’s recruitment.
