The Wisconsin Badgers football program has missed on another top offensive line recruiting target.

After making the top five schools for three-star offensive tackle Matty Augustine alongside Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Notre Dame, the Wisconsin Badgers learned their disappointing fate on Tuesday.

Wisconsin Football Misses on 3-Star OT Matty Augustine

Matty Augustine, who held nearly 30 offers, announced he was committing to Notre Dame instead of the Wisconsin football program.

According to the composite rankings, Augustine is the No. 393 player in the nation, the No. 32 OT, and the No. 4 player in Connecticut.

Augustine made several trips to Madison during his recruitment, with his most recent visit coming as a part of a big junior day event weekend for Wisconsin. He had a prior connection with Badgers offensive line coach AJ Blazek when he was still at Vanderbilt.

Notre Dame specifically has been a thorn in Wisconsin’s side this recruiting cycle, already landing in-state products James Flanigan and Owen Strebig, who held Wisconsin offers and now Augustine. With offensive lineman, former Badgers coach Joe Rudolph has proven to be a strong recruiter and relationship builder.

The Wisconsin football program currently holds one offensive line commit in three-star in-state tackle Michael Roeske. For now, it’s back to the drawing board for the recruiting department.
