The Wisconsin football program had a very obvious hole to fill in the 2024 recruiting class at running back. The Badgers are facing the possibility of Braelon Allen declaring for the NFL Draft after the 2023 season. On top of that, Chez Mellusi’s future is up in the air after his season-ending injury, adding to the importance of bringing in young talent and depth at the position.

Wisconsin filled their running back spots early by picking up verbal commitments from Darrion Dupree, Dilin Jones, and Gideon Ituka. This group is ripe with talent, with Dupree and Jones being four-star prospects and Ituka being a three-star tailback.

The future of the Wisconsin football running back room is chugging along through their senior seasons, and one of the tailbacks has been having a remarkable season thus far.

Wisconsin Football Commit Gideon Ituka Having a Standout Senior Year

Gideon Ituka, a Maryland native, started his senior year with a bang, notching 234 yards and five touchdowns on just 13 carries in the opening matchup against Clarksburg.

Ituka and Gaithersburg High School currently stand at 4-1 through five games, and the Wisconsin football commit has been a big reason for the Trojan’s success.

According to a social media post from Ituka, the 5-foot-9, 220-pound back has been putting up video game numbers with nearly 1,000 yards rushing on just over 100 carries, and he’s finding the endzone very often.

I don’t have to spell it out, but these numbers are ridiculous. With these marks, Ituka is averaging nearly 9.5 yards per carry and finding the endzone about every ten times he gets the rock.

Though Ituka is unheralded compared to the other Wisconsin football running back commits, he’s shown he can be a difference-maker for his team. Getting a player like Ituka in the running back room is big for Wisconsin, and he should be a fun player to watch when he makes it up to Madison.

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Ituka is the No. 1007 player in the nation, the No. 74 running back, and the No. 28 player in Maryland.
