Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin football staff has landed yet another talented 2024 recruit in running back Darrion Dupree, but what makes Dupree truly great?
Dupree, the 2024 four-star running back, is a versatile playmaker out of the backfield. Dupree is comfortable doing everything on offense, whether it be receiving the ball or blocking. Along with being a strong, shifty back, Dupree also has excellent field vision. The newest member of the Badgers adds plenty to the offense.
Wisconsin Badgers Added Another Dynamic, Intelligent Running Back to Their Arsenal
The Wisconsin football program has prided themselves on producing some of the best running backs in collegiate football. Many would say that Wisconsin is considered to be “Running Back University” due to their track record at the position. Despite names like Jonathan Taylor and Melvin Gordon gracing the field for the Badgers, one man ranks above them all.
The newest commitment for the Badgers in the 2024 recruiting class is considered one of the most versatile running backs in the class. Darrion Dupree, a four-star recruit from Illinois, is the highest-rated running back the Badgers have ever recruited.
Dupree, coming in at 5-foot-10-inches, 190-pounds, has quite the variety of moves within his play style. The running back possesses incredible power and field awareness that allows for him to find gaps faster than the defense can fill them. The rising Senior scored on 19% of his touches during his Junior season both on the ground and through the air. Dupree was a machine for his team last season and still has another year to fully develop his game before reaching the collegiate scene.
Traditionally, running backs come in three different forms. There is the power back who bowls opponents over with punishing hits or his size. There is the elusive back that aims to shift and cut away from the defenders. Then, there is the receiving back who can lineup anywhere. Dupree, however, is a rare combination of the three.
Why Wisconsin Football Commit Darrion Dupree Is Primed for Success Before Reaching Madison
As everyone has said time and time again, the Wisconsin football staff wants physical freaks. The staff likes physical, intelligent, and versatile players that can do whatever the team asks of them. The true reason why the commitment of Dupree is such a splash is due to his scheme fit and not just his raw talent.
When Dupree joins the team following the completion of his Senior year, he will instantly become a viable option for the Badgers offense. Dupree possesses skills that neither Luke Fickell, Phil Longo, or practically any other coach can teach. His versatility should cause him to find playing time right from the start.
