Wisconsin Football Expected to Land 2024 Defensive Recruit From Florida

Tomorrow, all eyes will be on three-star defensive back Xavier Lucas out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when he announces his commitment because Wisconsin football has him at the top of their board among uncommitted recruits. 

The 247Sports Composite rankings have Lucas listed as the No. 772 player in the nation, the No. 82 safety, and the No. 108 player in Florida. Although anyone following his recruitment to this point knows schools are after him as a cornerback. 

Lucas is 6 feet tall and 185 pounds and, by all accounts, is down to Iowa, Wisconsin, Florida State, and Illinois as his final schools. 

It’s well-documented that Florida State is the dream school for the three-star defensive back, but recruiting insiders seem to think he will land somewhere far north of the sunshine state.

Xavier Lucas officially visited the Wisconsin football program on June 2, along with seemingly all the other high-profile Badgers commits. And even though there wasn’t any immediate momentum involved in his recruitment, all signs point towards UW landing the Flordia native. 

Badgers recruiting insiders Evan Flood of 247Sports and Jon McNamara of Rivals, along with Florida State insider Zach Blostein have all placed predictions for Lucas to commit to Wisconsin. 

If these predictions come to fruition, Lucas would presumably be the last defensive back Luke Fickell and Wisconsin football will take in the 2024 recruiting class.
