Top 2024 Wisconsin Football Target Announces Commitment Details

The Wisconsin football program has shifted some attention to the 2025 recruiting class. However, there’s still some work to be done in the 2024 cycle.

One of Wisconsin’s top remaining targets, Xavier Lucas, has announced his commitment date.

Top Wisconsin Football Target Xavier Lucas Announces Commitment Details

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Lucas is the No. 771 player in the nation, the No. 82 safety, and the No. 108 player in Florida.

The three-star safety has racked up 34 total offers. Some notable schools to offer the American Heritage High School standout include Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Iowa, and Texas A&M, among others.

The Wisconsin football program has been pushing hard for a commitment from Lucas, and things seem to be trending in the right direction.

UW is locked in a tight recruiting battle with Florida State, with Iowa also sneaking into the mix. Lucas was reportedly waiting to see how Florida State’s defensive back recruiting would shake out before he made a decision. A few days ago, FSU landed a commitment from five-star S KJ Bolden, the No. 1 safety prospect in the 2024 class. On top of that, the Seminoles are currently the odds-on favorite to land three-star safety Ashlynd Barker.

Wisconsin picked up a crystal ball prediction last week to land Lucas’ services. With Florida State landing Bolden and another safety commitment likely on the horizon, the chances of UW landing the three-star prospect have seemingly increased.

Lucas will announce his decision on the 11th, and Badger fans will want to keep a very close eye on this announcement. For what it’s worth, I really like UW’s chances here.
